چکیده
This paper presents a highly sensitive differential soil moisture sensor (DSMS) using microstrip line loaded with triangular two-turn resonator (T2-SR) and complementary of the rectangular spiral (CR2-SR), simultaneously. Volumetric Water Content (VWC) or permittivity sensing is conducted by loading T2-SR side dielectric samples. Two transmission notches are observed for identical loads relating to CR2-SR. The CR2-SR notch at 4.39 GHz used as reference measurement method. Further, resonance frequency measured relative value. Based on this difference, calculated which related VWC. Triangular changes from 4 2.38 when VWC varies 0% 30%. sensor’s operation principle described through circuit model analysis simulations. To validate concept, prototype designed 3-cell DSMS fabricated measured. proposed exhibits shift 110 MHz 1% change highest content (30%) sandy-type soil. work proves microwave concept precision agriculture.

A Semi-Cylindrical Capacitive Sensor Used for Soil Moisture Measurement
Differing from the structure of traditional parallel plate capacitive sensor a semi cylindrical capacitive sensor has been introduced in this present work to measure the soil moisture conveniently. Here, the numerical analysis method to evaluate the capacitance from the semi-cylindrical capacitive sensor is analyzed and discussed. The changes of capacitance with the variation of soil moisture o...
متن کاملMicrowave Remote Sensing of Soil Moisture
Because of the large contrast between the dielectric constant of liquid water and that of dry soil at microwave wavelength, there is a strong dependence of the thermal emission and radar backscatter from the soil on its moisture content. This dependence provides a means for the remote sensing of the moisture content in a surface layer approximately 5 cm thick. The feasibility of these technique...
متن کاملActive microwave remote sensing for soil moisture measurement: a field evaluation using ERS-2
Active microwave remote sensing observations of backscattering, such as C-band vertically polarized synthetic aperture radar (SAR) observations from the second European remote sensing (ERS-2) satellite, have the potential to measure moisture content in a near-surface layer of soil. However, SAR backscattering observations are highly dependent on topography, soil texture, surface roughness and s...
